The Pilot Who Came Back from the Dead
Country: Britain / Germany
Theme: Survival / Shock Twist
In 1942, British pilot Nicholas Alkemade was on a bombing mission over Germany when his plane was hit. Trapped inside, he had to choose between burning alive or jumping without a parachute from 18,000 feet.
He jumped.
Amazingly, pine trees and snow broke his fall. German soldiers captured him—stunned he was alive. When they confirmed his story, they treated him with respect and even gave him a certificate for surviving the impossible.
