The sun was setting everywhere on the small town of Willow Brook, dropping a golden glow over the fields and farms. In a modest house trailer on the outskirts of town, a young mother known as Rita was getting her two kids, 6-year-old Michael and 4-year-old Emily, all set to get to sleep.
Rita was actually a single mom, and so she worked 2 jobs to make ends meet. She was a waiter at the local diner in the day, and she worked as a janitor at the high school during the night. She was worn out, but she knew that she had the need to carry on working hard to provide for her children.
Michael and Emily were two happy kids, in spite of their conditions. They loved playing together in the lawn, and they all of the time looked forward to their mother coming back home from work. Rita knew that she was doing the best she could for them, and that was all that mattered.
One day, Rita came home from work to find that her trailer had been in foreclosure. She had fallen behind on her payments, and the bank had taken her moving home. Rita was down in the mouth. She didn't know what she was going to do.
Rita and her children moved in with her father and mother, but it was a tight squeeze. There were just two bedrooms in the house, and Rita's parents were by now retired and on a fixed income. Rita knew that she could not stay with them for long.
Rita began searching for a new residence to live in, but she couldn't find something economical. She was starting to feel hopeless. She didn't know how she was going to tend to her kids.
One day, Rita was conversing with her friend, who told her about a program that helped low-income families find housing. Rita asked for the program, and she was accepted. She was so alleviated. She finally had a place to call home.
Rita and her kids moved into a small apartment, and they commenced to rebuild their lives. Rita got a new job, and she was able to find the money to put Michael and Emily in day care. The children were growing fast, and Rita was finally in a position to relax and enjoy being a mother.
Rita's story is just one example of the countless families who're struggling to pay the bills in the United States. Poverty is indeed a problem in this country, and it affects so many people. But there are also many organizations and programs that are working to help those in need. If you are struggling, do not be frightened to reach out for help. There is hope.??
