The Endeavour

 There was once a girl, which seemed like a pretty normal girl. However, she was the smartest at her school and she was always mocking the other students who were weaker than her. She would always get an A and seem surprised by it, that kind of student we have all faced at some point.

Her parents left her when she was little so she was staying with her uncle which was very abusive. She would always beat her. Once, when she came from school, her uncle was very drunk and as she stepped through that door, he raised his left hand up and stroke her right cheek. Her feet were caught off guard and as she tried to make another step forward she fell right on her knees.

This would be a normal scenario for her, however, this time her mouth started to bleed out. With that punch, her uncle almost broke her jaw. Then everything changed.

The next day to school, the other kids, including the big group of cocky girls saw how defenceless she was and planned an attack. Another day successful for her at school, more enemies made.

On her way home she sees that group of girls following her closely from behind and she figures out that she must start running. She starts placing her left foot in front of her right foot at a distance much bigger than someone normally would. She trips on a branch she didn’t pay attention to and her left foot got stuck in there, making it impossible for her not to fall. She hit the ground very hard, thinking that she might’ve broke left arm.

She gets up by placing her left food up and by using her right arm she jumps back up and starts running to the house, not so far away now.

She gets home just to find out that her uncle is out drinking again. Just before she realises she has to close the door, the girls come in and start bashing her into the walls. She gets thrown into the walls and receives many punches, one even between her legs which forces her to use the wall as a support so she won’t fall, until she sees how she can escape. The girls accidentally formed a free space for her to run. She gathers all of her energy left and by pushing her onto the wall she sprints forward to the door, where she starts running upstairs.

Upstairs was her room, where she used to play with her toys since she was a child, how unfortunate this situation has happened.

Then she runs into the room where she couldn’t close the door as the group of girls bashed in. She starts putting her left foot behind her right foot, knowing that there is not where to run, blood dripping off her clothes. She places her left foot forward thinking of every steps she does. However, it is not enough. As she is stabbed right in the back, left from the spine, by a girl that we don’t where or how she appeared. However, she is able to make a few more steps, her feet shaking, knowing that these will be her last steps. Then, one girl comes and punches her right in the belly, making her left foot bend, leaving the right foot the only one able to walk.

She is bashed into the walls and another decisive strike is thrown.

Once punched, her right foot stops listening to commands and she is now struggling to hop on one foot. She places her right foot forward and struggles to make a few steps, before the last punch comes right in her head, making her left foot go back and make her fall. Her body hits the ground hard and the group of girls was able to hear her bones break before the fall.

She closes her eyes and starts praying helplessly. She stands up, despite the laughs she can hear behind her. She feels the hemorrhage inside her growing. She places her left foot forward, dragging the right foot after her, hoping that she might reach someone that can help her. Then, just before doing another step, a punch comes from behind, making her left foot breakdown and let her hit the ground so hard that the rain drops around her raised for a second. However, she raises up and tries to make one last step, forcing her right foot to do another step, which it couldn’t. She staggers on her feet, hopelessly, knowing that these are her final moments. The group of girls leave her, knowing that she will suffer before dying.

After a few minutes, her body breakdown and her knees break, making her hit the ground really hard, ending all of her endeavour, making everything quiet.

The park went silent into the night, leaving everything in it in a trembling mystery.
