Return back to fitness

Fitness is one of those things where you don't notice it's gone. Then one day you're trying to run or do some other remedial exercise. And then you are struck by the shocking truth about the deterioration of your body. It's all too easy to lose shape, but it's harder to get it back.

Fitness is more than just a regular exercise. Fitness is a combination of things. Frequency of exercise plays a major role and is a determining factor, but diet, amount of sleep, stress, and even moods affect one's fitness.

If someone is out of shape and wants to take action to correct that then here are some things they should do.

First they should set aside two to three days a week to start some light exercise. The amount they can do depends on how out of shape they are before they start. It's always best to work to a reasonable level, rather than shoot out the blocks.

For example, someone who is obese should only walk quickly until they lose a little weight and can run without straining their knees.

Next, they should analyze their diet. How healthy are they going to eat? Do they have enough energy in the daytime? Fueling the body is the key to fitness and health, so ensuring that their body operates efficiently is vital to any fitness regime. You can't get fit on a fast-food diet.

It is important to reduce stress. Exercise is actually a way to reduce stress. Increased heart rate flushes the body with some negative chemicals produced during stress.

Only someone who feels relaxed can perform well during exercise. So the less stressed they are the better they will be.

I would say that sticking to a plan that you know is feasible. If you think you're only going to have one free day a week for the next year then exercise once a week.

It's better to exercise consistently for a year than to leave for a few weeks. Reason, it was impossible to keep the schedule you set.

With fitness, the race wins slowly and steadily. In fact, you never know how out of shape you are or how long it will take you to get back to fitness levels. Just hold on to it and it's coming.

As long as you eat healthy and keep as stress-free as possible, every exercise session will contribute to your body's improvement, and slowly but surely you will be fit again.

Fitness is actually something that is better maintained than being treated as an on-off hobby. In today's world, it's increasingly easy to become a couch potato, making it increasingly difficult to get back in shape. However once a commitment has been made, it only takes time and consistency to see results and feel good again.
