Getting fit without equipment and staying that way could be a challenge. Many of us are going to the same old routine, a local health club or a gym membership to get results.
1. Hiking. Hiking.
Hiking is a heart pumping activity and a great way to keep you outdoors and in the fresh air. Find a few local trails, grab your tennis shoes and go hiking. The scenery is much better than the TV or the walls of the gym, while giving you a sense of accomplishment.
2. Come on, join a team.
Are there any local adult sports teams you can join? If you're trying to make a sport out of getting fit, this is the way to go. You can have a good time burning calories and getting a high heart rate. If there isn't one available, do you have enough friends to start your own mini-team workout?
3. Bootcamp, man.
Create your own team. They could be a lot of fun. The challenge can be very motivating, who doesn't love it? Do it on your own or challenge yourself with your friends. Go to the local park or area, and do some exercise in strength and cardio. Exercises such as lungs, jumping jacks, push ups, high knees, tricep dips, and sitting ups may be part of the challenge.
4. City Walkabout, man.
Take a tour of the city in which you live while walking. Walking is easy, because you just need a pair of good supporting walking shoes. You could walk almost anywhere. Walk around the city or one nearby. Take a walking tour of the local city park, state park or historic site. Not only do you get a good workout, but you might learn something new in the process.
5. Running the track.
Is it a challenge for you to walk? Would you like to burn more calories? Running is a very good calorie burning exercise. It could be the most boring task to do in a gym or on a treadmill at home. Go on the nearest high school track. They're open to the neighborhood a lot of times. You might even be able to find a running friend or bring your own. If it's your style to do it solo, put on your headphones, no one's going to care or bother you. It could be an interesting way to break up your routine once in a while. Try speeding up and slowing down to increase your cardio activity.
There may be different ways to break up the old gym, or the home route routine, and still work to get and stay fit without gym equipment. Look for ways to make your workout interesting and fun from time to time in your own neighborhood or city.
