Did Your E-Bike Make the Burn List? - A Look at the Recalled Ascend Cabrillo

## Electric bikes are all the rage, providing an environmentally responsible and sweat-free way to get around town. But hold on to your helmets, since Pacific Cycle has recently issued a recall on their Ascend Cabrillo electric bike owing to a potential fire risk.

Let's shift gears and analyze this problem. The fault is with the wiring harness, the internal electrical system that controls battery charging. It appears that it was not properly built, which could result in overheating and, in the worst-case scenario, fire. Not exactly the thrill you're looking for on a relaxing journey.

If you own an Ascend Cabrillo, don't worry! Here is what you should do:

Stop using your bike immediately. A flaming e-bike would definitely ruin your day.

Check the serial number. Go to Pacific Cycle's website and enter your bike's serial number. This will definitively determine whether your Cabrillo is part of the recall.

Return it: If it is, take your bike back to Bass Pro Shops or Cabela's, where you most likely bought it. You will be eligible for a full refund or a replacement (preferably with a fire-resistant wire harness this time!).

While this recall is unfortunate, it serves as a reminder of how important safety regulations are. Pacific Cycle deserves a tip of the helmet for taking precautions to avoid potential injury.

So keep cool and cycle on! Just be sure you're riding a bike that will not leave you stranded or, worse, burned.
